Dear St. Angela School Families and Community,

It is with deep joy and great anticipation that I introduce myself as the new Principal of St. Angela School home of the Wildcats! I am honored to join this vibrant and faith-filled community, and I am excited to partner with you in continuing St. Angela’s legacy of academic excellence, strong character development, and joyful learning.

As a first-generation college graduate of African American descent, education has transformed my life, and it is this very passion for educational equity and opportunity that has guided my journey. I am a proud graduate of the University of Florida and the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. I began my career in education as a Teach for America corps member, and over the years, I have been blessed to serve in a variety of roles as teacher, instructional coach, Assistant Principal, and Principal in schools across the country.

Throughout my career, I have remained committed to improving academic outcomes for all students, regardless of background. Whether it was leading one of the highest academic growth turnarounds in Houston ISD, coaching over 160 teachers and instructional leaders, or helping entire schools rise in academic performance, I’ve seen the power of high expectations, strong instruction, and a culture rooted in love and belief in children.

Most recently, I served as the Campus Director at Great Lakes Academy here in Chicago, where we saw notable growth in both math and ELA achievement. I also had the honor of founding and leading the Young Women’s Leadership Academy in Las Vegas ,an experience that deepened my belief in what is possible when students are challenged, supported, and inspired every single day.

Now, I am beyond thrilled to bring that same energy, dedication, and belief to the students, staff, and families of St. Angela. I believe in cultivating joyful classrooms, building strong partnerships with families, and working together to ensure every student is known, loved, and prepared for success in high school, college, and life.
St. Angela is a special place, a school with deep roots, strong values, and incredible promise. I look forward to meeting each of you, listening and learning, and building on the school’s strengths as we write this next chapter together.

Let’s make this year one of academic growth, community connection, and wildcat pride. Go Wildcats!

With excitement and gratitude,
Whitney McIntosh
