Pre-School

Pre-school is available to children who are three years old and completely toilet-independent by September 1st of the enrolling year.  It is for three-, four-, and five-year-old children.  Breakfast and a hot lunch are provided for the children daily.

Pre-school at St. Angela is fun -- and we're learning, too!
Pre-school is an early childhood educational program in which children combine learning with play in a program run by professionally trained teachers.  Preschool years are a time of promise, a time when your children's bodies and minds are growing at an incredible rate.

At St. Angela, we believe that future school success may depend on a student's childhood experience of school.  Therefore, our program is designed with the physical, mental, artistic, social, moral and spiritual aspects of development in mind.  Special emphasis is placed on building up a child's feelings of accomplishment, self-confidence and self-worth.

Finally, our gentle daily devotion teaches our students that Jesus loves them dearly.  We assure them that Jesus is always watching us and that He lives in each of us.  Therefore, the child learns to be confident in exploring the stimulating environment that our classrooms provide.  School is a place where they can gain a sense of self, play with peers, build confidence and, most importantly, find answers through investigation, experimentation and conversation.

Is St. Angela’s pre-school program considered a daycare or a school?

We are a school, not a day care. This is why we have specific starting and ending times to our school day; we do not offer a drop-in program. This is also why we have a highly developed curriculum and why we offer a comprehensive educational program for each child.  We also have highly qualified teachers and aides.

What do pre-schoolers do all day?

The pre-school curriculum uses both the Creative Curriculum and Opening the World of Learning (OWL) Curriculum over the course of the year. Daily learning allows children to engage in free play, teacher directed activities, and individualized play. Circle time and group activities are also included during the day so that teachers can lead the students in group learning activities. Children’s play is their work – so when children say they “played all day,” it does not mean that they were not learning. All activities and centers available to the children are intended to teach the concepts and behaviors they need to learn at their young age.
